DOCK RAISING TIME

As most of you know, our volunteers (both shareholders and renters) and have been very busy this year keeping YOUR yacht club in first class shape and saving us thousands of dollars. Some of the projects completed to date include:

  1. Several areas of rip-rap wash-out repairs (5 days)
  2. Spring work party
  3. Weed and insect spraying
  4. New concrete foundation for the flag pole
  5. New lighting and landscaping for the flag pole
  6. Buildings power washed and windows cleaned
  7. Contracting out and overseeing work by outside Contractors

Our volunteers are the same 20-30 people that are there for every project and we still have more projects to complete this year.

As per SSYC rules (see below), it is necessary to maintain a standard distance from the bottom of the dock to the water to avoid ice damage to the dock. This elevation is set at the SSYC Gin Pole Dock. Your dock must be as high or higher as the SSYC Gin Pole Dock.

SUNSET SHORES YACHT CLUB ASSOCIATION RULES Rule 21 states the following:

To avoid ice damage each dock minimum height level must be at or above the club’s (gin pole) dock by the second Saturday of October. The Board of Director’s shall set the club’s reference dock by September 15th for a minimum of 18” above the water level.

It is time that our Shareholders step up and help us to accomplish this seasonal requirement. On the following dates we will be having work parties to raise docks.

  • October 3 at 10:00am
  • October 10 at 10:00am
  • October 17 at 10:00am
  • October 24 at 10:00am

If your share’s dock is listed as too low, you or a representative must be there to help; even if you cannot raise your dock, you can help out with other things while working with our volunteers.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SIGN IN. If you or your representative does not show up on one of the listed dates, you will be charged $50.00 per share.

If you choose to raise your dock prior to these dates, Dock raising and lowering procedures are available on our website’s Documents and Standards page or link directly to Dock Raising-Lowering Instructions.

Upon completion, please put your name and share number in the Fleet Captains’ box (located in the hall between the clubhouse and bathhouse on the East side) to ensure you receive proper credit.

Share docks that need raising are:
